Anyone figure out a solution to MBP's random disconnects? I have all the latest updates and still no luck.

The problem I am describing is where your connection drops but in the airport settings it still says connected. You can only get your connection back by turning off/on airport (or restart) I have tried playing with the settings in my router but it doesn't happen to any of my other notebooks (they run windows). Any solutions or ideas would be appreciated.

That's good to know that their are perfect ones out there. I might try a different router, I have a dlink right now and its not that great but its not that bad. I was thinking about going with the airport extreme but I really want to find some kind of router with a multifunction print server. Any suggestions?

Strange thing I also noticed is that when watching a movie over the network, it doesn't stop playing when my browser times out and my email stops sending and receiving.

Same problem here I have a Dlink DI-634m. I think the last update may have something to do with this. I can only connect for ave. of ten mins. bf it disconnects. I get a solid connection through ethernet though.

*edit: My router has been working flawlessly for close to a year now with wpa.

hmm that is strange.. I'll probably buy the apple extreme this weekend and see if it changes anything. Maybe its Dlink because I remember reading another person's thread and he also stated using a Dlink router.

Anyways does anyone know of the new apple extremes are in store yet?

mee too

i just started having this problem after a few last updates, i believe after the EFI firmware update, before that i had no problem whatsoever

any help out there APPLE?

makes downloading anything impossible because it always cuts out

.... ehh gotta be driver issue, as i have no problems in Vista..... (guess i will be using windows till they fix this crap) bleh

I have the same problem, and I also have a Dlink router.

I think I am going to cave and get an airport extreme

I think it's a problem with DLink routers. I used to have the same problem with my DLink but when Verizon switched me to an Actiontec, I have had no problems.

I have a Airport Extreme, and with my Macbook, the airport signal cuts out when I'm running off the battery. It's really annoying. If I plug in the MagSafe, the signal never drops.

I have a D-Link DGL-4300. I got this problem after the last update. I was about to purchase a new router which sucked because this has been the best router I ever owned.

Someone suggested that I update the router firmware. I did so and that made the problem about 98% better. I still get a small hiccup about once every few hours, but it is MUCH improved. Try it

Good suggestion. Going to try this before shelling out almost 200 bucks on an airport extreme.

Yea its one of the most annoying problems I have with the MBP. When I'm unplugged, I get disconnected every 10 minutes but my airport icon still says connected. I think I'm going to do a fresh install back to 10.4.9 because when I first received the MBP it had no problems under 10.4.9, it wasn't till I reinstalled and did the upgrade to 10.4.10 is when the problem started showing up. It's quite strange that almost everyone in this thread is using a Dlink router.

I get this problem with the Linksys WRT54G router... I have all updates installed. My connection drops all the time, so it's really hell opening threads and replying on forums...

Edit: It was no problem with the update that came before the newest. Back then I would just experience a Kernel sometimes when running on battery

I too have this problem, and have had so since the last update 10.4.10. I am just waiting for the upgraded AEBS to get to my Apple store and I will be buying it asap. The dropouts are maddening...

I have a DLink router at home, and I too have this problem on my new MBP. It shows full power on the aiport logo, but the internet connection gets either really slow or simply disconnects. It's been frustrating, because I haven't had this problem on my PB. It's only on my MBP.

I too was having problems, though with my linksys wrt54gc. My firmware was up to date before the update and is up to date after, but now I have problems. I went to a genius bar, and they suggested filling out a feedback form (see link below) including all the specifics of your router. They said they will pass it on to the engineers as it's a 3rd party problem. Of course, the computer was fine in the apple store with their airport.
