@me.com address for newborn

Hey Folks,

I want to create an email address for my 2 day old daughter so that I can email her things about her life along the way and then at an appropriate age.. give her that email password. A "time capsule" of sorts but I've tried everything and can't figure it out. I get to "create account" but when I enter her birthday it says she's not eligible. Aside from changing the birthdate.. any recommendations?

Nope. All email accounts require you to be of a certain age. Just set it to yours then change it her birthday after she becomes of age.
 
Apple requires that the owner of the account be at least 13 years of age. There is no way to circumvent this besides changing the birthdate.

Perhaps, instead of sending emails, you could keep a journal type document in a word processor. With email, there is a chance that they will be erased by the time your child even sees them.
 
Perhaps a simple database program like Bento would work for you. You can create various layouts, attach pictures, and more. I tried it and didn't like it for my needs, but I could see it being very good for what you are trying to do.

Why would you use MobileMe to begin with? Gmail's free... I like this idea though.
 
I'd be more concerned about the longevity of a me.com address/service. Do you really expect iCloud to be around 13-18 years from now? Do folks still use the same e-mail service you used in 2000? Does it even still exist?

Write the kid some letters.

Bento is nice but not free. What I would do is using Evernote to create notebooks like 1st year, 2nd yesr etc. etc.
