I've had this working fine for over a month since I made the switch to a Moto X from an iphone 4s.

This afternoon, it's now telling me it can't log in to the @me.com account. The account still logs in on my macbook, so I'm thinking Apple likely changed something on the authentication side so their accounts won't play nice with Android phones.

I've seen people get this to work with various different settings, but what *was* working for me was this:

incoming:
imap.mail.me.com
port 993
SSL/TLS (Accept All)

outgoing:
smtp.me.com
port 587
STARTTLS (Accept All)
Require Signin checked

Anyone have any new info on changes to Apple's requirements? I'm likely just going to kick this account to the curb as it's not worth the trouble and I use gmail for pretty much anything of value, but maybe this info will help someone else...

Having exactly the same issue. All of a sudden it won't log in on my Nexus 4 - been fine for 6+ months prior to this.

Tried setting up on alternate email client with the same result. Called Apple support who said they can't help as my login is fine and works on my iMac, iPad and they don't support non Apple products.

Try these settings.
Incoming

mail.mac.com

Security SSL
Server 993

Outgoing

smtp.mac.com

Security Starttls

Port 587

I am using these settings with AquaMail and it works perfect with three mac email accounts.

If you can't get it working with the settings posted above, maybe try a new email client. If it still won't connect, then it is an Apple problem. If it works, then it is either a problem with your settings or the stock email client.

Just tried re-adding the account and it worked with just entering the username and password...the automatic setup worked, which *never* worked before. So something was definitely broken at Apple, and not only is it fixed...but it's actually better than it ever was!

Check sending mail. Often with default auto settings it will either give up fetching new email at some point or not send mail properly.

It uses old legacy settings when auto detecting that Apple have subsequently changed over the years.

I just got a Moto G and was trying to add email accounts last night and none were working (Yahoo, Apple).

Tried again this morning and worked without a problem.

That seems to me like it might have been a problem with the client then.

It went down again last night......this time only iCloud wasn't working on my WP8 and Android devices.....

Frustrating. I use my iCloud email for mostly everything and can't have it failing to log-in every other night.
