Me.com = uncommon client, Why?

I've only been within the Mac community since I purchased my MBA a year ago, and just joined Macrumors recently, but notice that ....,

No one ever gives me an email address ending in Me.com

Comcast, Yahoo, Google, Verizon, blah, blah, blah .net or .com
But never Me.com
As there's millions of proud Mac users ..., Why is this?

Because the ones you listed are free, me.com is not. Thus, it is less common.

Oh, right ~ of course, and "less common" makes perfect sense.

But again , there's millions of Mac users, and among my 100's or 1000's of address listings ~ I don't have ANY with me. extensions (other than a few Mac friends who agree to share our me. addresses).

Sorta puts Apple in a bad light. As if their mail client is inadequate or has issues (maybe it does - I don't use it that much, and might not know).

I would use & put mine out there more often as an everyday address ..., but don't want to if it reflects some kind of negativity or oddity that I'm not aware of.

With everything going on in the world, I don't think the domain of your email address should be what your worried about.

Now if you are going to use it for a business address, IMHO, only Hotmail and Yahoo stand out as coming across as cheapish.

Then again, if this was for a business, I would tell you to get your own domain name and forward it to the client server of your choice (gmail, mobileme, etc) and have said client server send using the IMAP server of your domain.

I'm really not "worried" (didn't mean to give that impression) just struck me as very unusual, and thought there might be a reason behind it that a Mac newbie wouldn't be aware of. Combination of curious & cautious.

Maybe me.com doesn't interact well with common web mail apps. I wouldn't be at all surprised if me. and Outlook didn't play well together ~ by design.

If for business ~ I understand and agree with your thinking.

I loaded up my me.com in Outlook Mac 2011 once and it seemed to work just fine but I generally use it in Apple Mail and when at work I just use the web client or my iPhone. Outlook seemed to work fine but it's complete inability to work with the Apple Address Book eliminated it from use quickly.

Honestly, the reason you don't hear much about it is because it cost money. People are much more willing to pay for email with their privacy than actual cash. There are also many who probably do what I mentioned with using their own domain name.

I also know a lot of people who use gmail.com and have it forward to their me.com to take advantage of Gmail's excellent spam filtering.
