Media keys not working after upgrade

I did the El Capitan upgrade last night. I noticed today that they media keys on my keyboard are no longer working with iTunes. Has anyone else had this issue and/or know of a solution? Thanks!

If you use the fn key, do the media keys work? If so, go to System Preferences >> Keyboard.

Nope. It seems that they work in all applications with the exception of iTunes. Really odd. My calendar icon isn't updating the date either.

Edit: a restart fixed both issues.
