Media Player support HDR from MKV container?

I am having trouble finding a good media player supports HDR from MKV files. I tried VLC, Mplayer, none of it actually render the HDR but auto convert down to SDR playback.

I know Quicktime works with all the video I shot from my iPhone 12 in HDR mode. Just nothing for MKV container. Should I convert these container?
