I'm looking for some suggestions about streaming music and video from my powermac G5. What I'm looking for is something that can access all of the internal drives in my powermac (5 drives and a 6th SSD start up drive). I have an extensive collection of ripped DVD's (Handbrake m4v's) and music (MP3) in my itunes library as well as some AVI and MKV stored in normal file structures.
I currently connect my powermac directly to my TV via a DVI to HDMI and optical out to my sound system. The TV will be moving location shortly and I don't want to run cable across my lounge room floor.
Is the best solution a jailbroken ATV3?
Once jailbroken will this be able to still play my itunes library and and the other file AVI/MKV files? It has to work with powerpc for the timebeing too!
When this solution is working is it easy for a non tech person to operate (children/partner)?
Are there any other alternatives I should look at?
