I've been using the Meebo IM application on my iPhone 4 for a few days, and everything about it is great - except for the fact that it continues to receive notifications AFTER I've closed the app! I've ensured that I actually exit the application by touching it until it shakes then closing it, but it continues to popup IM notifications long after its exited. I can't find any information about this on the Meebo site, and I'm wondering if other users have experienced this and/or found out how to stop that behavior?

Thanks!

Definitely check your push notification status for the app. That can be found in settings. Disable it.

I've configured the push notifications how I like, but my concern is that I still receive notifications after I've closed the application. No other application does this. For instance, closing Pandora causes the music to stop. Closing the WordsFree game causes no notifications of players' moves. Meebo on the other hand, continues to send/receive push notifications after the application is closed, and I do not understand why or how this is happening.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A306 Safari/6531.22.7)

You need to turn push completely off for the app to stop getting notifications. Push is all coming from the app's server, not the app. It has nothing to do with an app running or not.

The whole point of Push is that it works when the app is closed. It was Apple's half-solution for no multitasking. Working as intended.

If you don't want the push messages you need to make sure to sign out of Meebo before closing the app.

It's because you are still logged in in the app. Go to the account settings in the app and click sign out and then you won't receive notifications.

Under Settings>Push Notifications, you can select Meebo and switch Push to "Off". That will automatically sign you out when you close the app.

Will that actually sign you out? I figured you'd stay signed in, but just won't get push notifications. You'll come back to new text in your chatlog though.
