Mega Cloud or Spideroak trustworthy?

Hi,

I'm looking for a zero-knowledge/no-knowledge alternative to iCloud.

Mega seems like an interesting option (50 GB for free, good Open Source Apps, Photo upload on iOS). But is it really trustworthy? Founded by the dubiose Kim Dotcom, who himself seems to not trust the service anymore.

Another option is Spideroak, which is a bit pricy and lacks certain features (Files on iOS App only readable, no Photo Upload Tool).

Could I ask why you’re not interested in iCloud and what features you find most important in cloud storage?

iCloud ist ok (Dropbox is actually my favorite), but I want an option where the Cloud Provider can't look into my files or share them with the authorities.

Priorities are Reliability and Security/Privacy (preferably client-side encryption).

iCloud’s your best option then for security.

As a general point, there is no company who would refuse sharing what data they can if they are ordered by the authorities. No service will go out of its way to completely protect a user that they do not know.

SpiderOak has very transparent privacy and security policies. Even if someone subpoenaed my data there they can't force SpiderOak to divulge it because SpiderOak doesn't know anything about it other than I pay them money and I have used x blocks. It's encrypted locally, and so they can't access it. They've got info easily available about their HIPAA compliance too. I've been using it quite a while, and yes it's not as cheap as some of the cheap storage outfits. But I have business confidentiality requirements, and Apple's iCloud is not, for example, HIPAA compliant.

@keysofanxiety: Yes, but with a Zero-Knowledge Encryption like Spideroak is offering the provider can't look into/make use of my files, because just I (the enduser) have the password to encrypt the data. Apple/iCloud doesn't offer such a service.
