Greetings to all,
I would like to replace the 8GB memory on my iMac 27 to 32GB, but I am not sure which memory to purchase. Can anybody help.
Many Thanks.

I got the Kingston HyperX (above kit) from Newegg for $90 a few weeks ago. Working great.

OWC is often parroted, but clearly overpriced, imo.

Parroted? Or just suggested? You make it sound like we are following someone by suggesting it. OWC is just a company I buy stuff from. I'd rather spend the extra $8 and buy from OWC than "Express Goods" via Amazon.

As long as it matches the spec you have any make will be fine, why not just get 16GB (2x8GB) and add them to the 8GB (2x4GB) you already have in the 2 free slots available. This gives you 24GB at a much better price and is more than most people will ever need, the only caveat to this is if you know you need more.

In order to get the 24GB, you must use the SIMM with same timing as what was installed on your iMac. the 8GB in the iMac is CL13 timing. if not, all SIMM speed will drop down to 1600Mhz.

And??? It's not like it makes any appreciable difference to system speed over 1600mHz anyway and the 5K iMac (2015) uses 1887mHz anyway so at worst it will clock back to that.

Many thanks for your valued reply. Sounds like the perfect solution for me.

I am running 4x8Gb @ 2133MHz perfectly happily, thank you!
