I have an iMac, 24", 2.8, with 4MG on it, which I believe is the accepted max. Any way to increase that MG beyond 4 with no adverse reaction of the system? Thanks in advance.

go to Crucial.com and download their memory config tool. It will tell you exactly what you can install and how much it costs. Easiest way to know for sure.

If it's a 2009 9,1 iMac it can take 2x4gb for 8th total. That's what I have.

Cheers,

If it turns out to be the previous model, 7,1, then while it officially supports only 4Gb (2x2Gb) I understand you can up it to 6Gb (4Gb + 2Gb).
