hey guys,

i bought a 2.2ghz mbp two days ago (now being shipped... cant wait!) and i also bought a 4gb memory package from OWC. the 245$ bill is staring me in the face and, after reading a few threads, i am questioning my purchase. i will be using it primarily for IM, web browsing, hella light gaming (flash... hehe), itunes, possibly some new ilife goodies (switching from pc) and photoshop cs3. many times i'll be doing all of those things at the same time. do you think the 4gb will be overkill, or should i return it and go with the baseline 2gb? possibly 3? i think i want to return the RAM (unopened) and just stick with 2 for a while and see what happens. who knows, maybe by the time i need it (might be going into graphic design... maybe?) it'll cost less.

opinions?

edit: oh yeah, i'm going to be running bootcamp with windows xp as well.

For what you described...I would just stick with the 2gb. Save yourself some money & return the ram you ordered. However, if in the future you decide you do need more ram, it should be a lot cheaper to buy then.

Just my two cents worth...

you'll notice a difference with photoshop, expecially if you are multitasking.

2GB is not bad, but 4GB is better, don't go for 3GB - you'll won't have the benefits of dual channel.

how much of a boost in performance do you think i'll get? i'm running 1.1gb of ram on my 2.93ghz p4 xp pc, and everything runs decently fast. i think if i run 2gb ram on 2.2ghz core duo i should notice a huge improvement as it is. oh well... i think i'm going to return it. if i really need it i can grab it later on, when it will probably cost less.
