OK I'm running a 2011 Mini base upgraded to 8gb RAM.

Lately I've noticed it being much more sluggish then its ever been.

A few things caught my attenuation rightoff. My kernel_task usage goes way up soon after I boot, to near 3gb of my RAM. I've never seen it anywhere near that high previous.

I ran EtreCheck, and noticed this section:

Problem System Launch Agents: ℹ️
[failed] com.apple.AirPlayUIAgent.plist
[failed] com.apple.CallHistoryPluginHelper.plist
[failed] com.apple.CallHistorySyncHelper.plist
[failed] com.apple.coreservices.appleid.authentication.plist
[failed] com.apple.telephonyutilities.callservicesd.plist

Problem System Launch Daemons: ℹ️
[failed] com.apple.awdd.plist
[failed] com.apple.ctkd.plist
[failed] com.apple.icloud.findmydeviced.plist
[failed] com.apple.ifdreader.plist
[failed] com.apple.tccd.system.plist
[failed] com.apple.wdhelper.plist

Are all these failed Daemons normal?

Thanks for reading.

Have you tried a reinstall using the recovery partition?

Memory Pressure should not be yellow.

Thanks for reading.

If I reinstall will I have to reinstall all my apps too?

I'd rather do that as a last rather then first step.

Did you try the normal stuff yet?

1) Reboot into recovery partition.
2) Repair disk.
3) Repair permission until no error.
4) Shut down.
5) SMC reset.
6) PRAM reset.
7) Boot into safe mode.
8) Restart.

Anyway, just re-install the OSX should keep all your user account data, apps, and settings.

Also, is there anything abnormal CPU loading in activity monitor?

I know it sounds crazy to say, but the problem just seems to have disappeared.

When I first noticed the sluggishness, a reboot would keep the kernel_task usage to 500mb or so, then after a bit would shoot up to near 3gb. I was able to reproduce it a few times, but never could find a cause.

Well since a Sunday reboot it has stayed on, running normally, 24x7 as Plex server / client and also used as a regular PC, and the memory hasn't spiked up at all.

Could an errant website or a hung program somehow have caused this, even after multiple reboots?

I'm not sure if I should keep investigating the cause or just monitor and see if the problem reoccurs?

you are not crazy, I had lots of glitchy stuff with my mac, once I complain about it things seem to smooth out. and yes I did lots of reboots.

LOL - how did just complaining help? Did it respond to the tone in your voice? :)
