Hello, so yesterday I noticed the percent ram used seemed high. Further investigation showed that only half my RAM was being recognized (only one of my two 1Gb chips in a PowerBook G4). When I opened Apple System Profiler I found this (see picture).

So first I took out and put back in both chips. Same problem. Then I tried both chips individually in the lower slot, worked. Then I tried a single chip but in the upper slot. Still worked. So I put both in but reversed from where they were before. This gave me 2Gb for a while until my computer froze, very unusual for my system. Upon restart, exact same problem with the lower slot not being recognized.

If it matters, one chip is 2 years old and the other is 3 months old (both after market). I am wondering if this is a heat issue even though I have never had my computer overheat before. I'll try restarting when my computer is cool and see if I get my second chip back.

Any ideas? Thanks.
