I'm getting some memory soon for my G5 dual 1.8 with 8 sockets, 2 sockets have 256mb in each. Does it matter if I get a single 1GB to fill one slot , or should I get 2X 512 MB.
thanks

A G5 tower only accepts memory in pairs (even number of modules--2x512 or 4x256.) A single 1GB won't work.

Your machine takes DDR PC3200 RAM.

I recommend you choose a reputable dealer who tests and guarantees compatibility with your model Mac, offers a lifetime warranty, and a no-cost return if it doesn't work.

(as opposed to some discount online places which sell generic RAM with no guarantee of compatibility and then charge you 15% restocking penalty plus shipping if you want to return it.)
