I recently upgraded my mac pro from 2GB ram to 6GB using 2 additional 2GB modules. (I now have 2- 1GB modules and 2- 2GB modules on riser A and 2- 1GB modules on riser B) After booting the machine up in OS X everything was as planned, and the system information displayed 6GB of installed RAM. However after switching over and re-booting into WIN XP (Bootcamp) the sytem information still displays only the original 2GB. Does anyone now of a way to get WinXP to recognize the new RAM... I really need the resources for 3d VIZ. Thanks.

I believe this is actually a limitation of Windows XP. It will only recognize up to, I think, 4Gb of ram, including that on the graphics card. However, I think there are work arounds to allow specific applications to use all of your ram.

XP "supports" 4GB RAM, but system properties will only show the addressable 3GB of virtual memory. to see the full 4GB displayed turn off the page file (the fact you can only see 2GB displayed is kinda stumping me). do not know how the mac hardware POSTs, but a PC will show you how much memory is addressable in BIOS during POST. if it shows 4096MB there you know the system is _using_ 4GB of RAM, but Windoze will not show you that...

Looks like I have another reason to hate re-booting into Windows. I just wish Autodesk made Mac compatible products... then I could avoid the whole mess. Eitherway, Thanks for the feedback.
