I have just had to kill Microsoft Word on my MBP - ran out of application memory. It was only using just over 68 gigabytes!

Although I have had quite a lot of issues previously with the functioning of Word, this is the first time it has actually gone completely crazy.

Monterey 12.4 on MBP and Word 365 16.61 (22050700).

Usually sits between 250 MB and 1.5 GB.

All I was doing was changing the paragraph attributes of some maths formulas - adding 3pt before and after as they were being partially obscured in table cells. (Looks like Word tables are not getting the proper vertical size of formulas. Hence chopping off a few pixels.)

I currently have nine (I think that's right) tickets open with Microsoft regarding Word on Mac.

This massive memory usage one has attracted their attention and they said they have seen a number of similar reports since Monterey 12.4.

I am convinced there is a deep and fundamental issue. Something like scheduling of threads. Fires them off but never notices they have completed. Or thinks they have completed when they have not.

Am also noticing that autosave to OneDrive is almost unusable - Word is in almost permanent Saving mode. Even if you take your hands away from the keyboard and mouse, it can take ten minutes or longer to conclude it really has been saved. And while it is saving, performance is usually pretty poor.
