Hi guys.

Noticed today, the battery in the menu bar no longer has an option to show 'battery time left' in the menu bar.

There is only the choice for a 'percentage of battery life left'.
This is sorta useless for me, as i can't comprehend the amount of battery life according to the percentage alone, since i dont know how much battery power the computer is using, using the current tasks.

Question:
Why did they disable this practical feature? It was available under Snow Leopard....

Thanks :D

This has already been discussed in several threads:
From the CHECKING STATUS AND HEALTH section of the following link:
On the MBPr and on Mountain Lion, the Menu Bar battery indicator no longer offers "Time Remaining" as an option on the Menu Bar. It still appears in the dropdown menu.
This app can display time remaining on the menu bar: SlimBatteryMonitor

From the BATTERY LIFE FROM A CHARGE section of the following link:
  • Your "time remaining" indication is an ever-changing estimate, based on the current workload of your system. It will fluctuate up and down from minute to minute as your power demands change. It is not perfectly accurate, but only an estimate.
This should answer most, if not all, of your battery/charging questions:

thanks for that :D
seems like a useless 'removal'.. can't imagine a NEED to remove that feature from the OS.

None the less, thanks heaps. i'll get onto the apps :D

It was removed because knuckleheads (like many here) were assuming that the time calculation was the word of god and complained because their battery life was diminishing.

Also, battery life did indeed diminish in ML so maybe Apple just doesn't want you to know about it. :D

Regardless, the damn thing was just a worthless guess anyway. Always was.
