i have a series of great desktop pics, and i hate things that interfere with them. i've always been able to hide the dock. in X, i can hide the hard drive. that only leaves one thing standing in the way of my dream of a truly empty desktop -- does anyone know how to hide the menu bar until needed? a mouse gesture to bring it up, just like the dock? thanks

Why on earth would you that? It seems so....non-functional?

I don't think its possible now.
But it sounds like a nice eye-candy feature.... Send feedback to Apple!

Yeah, a true empty desktop.....

you know, i removed the HD icon (along with everything else) from my desktop and quite frequently upon waking or starting the computer, i find myself thinking in OS9 mode: waiting for some icons to appear on my desktop.

of course they don't, and i realize after a minute or two that the machine has been good to go for a while and i've just been staring at it... i suppose i could put an icon or two back on the desktop to solve that problem, but i do like the clean desktop aesthetic.
