I've been using Safari in full screen mode since Lion introduced the feature and have gotten used to moving the mouse to the top of the screen to see the menu bar and bookmarks bar. This worked on Mountain Lion up until today when it just suddenly stopped working. I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue and resolved it? I tried relaunching Finder, killing the menubar from Terminal, restarting, and even reinstalling Mountain Lion (not clean install). I have a Mid-2009 15 inch MacBook Pro if that matters. Menu bar won't appear in full screen mode

I think I've found a clue as to what's causing the issue but don't know how to fix it. Every time I move the mouse to the top of the screen, Console logs an entry that says, "WindowServer: CGXRegisterWindowWithSystemStatusBar: window a already registered." I couldn't find any solutions so maybe with this someone knows a solution? Also, I tested in Safe Boot mode and everything works as it should so I'm not sure what the issue is when booted normally. I had this problem and just fixed it so I made an account here to say how.
First, it's something to do with a display helper like Air Parrot or Air Display. I have Air Display installed and there are some weird problems in Lion and Mountain Lion including sticky drag and drop (ie you go to drag and drop something and it sticks to the arrow cursor and is not droppable). When the menu bar thing happened I tried various things until I thought it could be related to the sticky drag and drop.
Fortunately, the fix that works for that also works for the menu bar problem: Simply put your mac to sleep and wake it (no need to restart) and the menu bar will start appearing on fullscreen apps again. The other option is to go to the login screen and log in again, but the sleep thing is easier .. hope that helps
btw, same MBP as you, but 17". I simply closed the lid and wait for it to sleep then reopen it.

Wow thanks @Wolves! I know this doesn't resolve completely the issue, but the trick of putting the mac to sleep really works. I've been searching for a fix for a long time!
