I want to find a menu for my small children where their kids' apps would have icons ready to click without having to pull down on menus. I would like this to be right there every time the computer boots.
OS X.

OS X.

Get a folder, make an alias for each game, put these in the folder, put the folder in the dock. Now they just have to click the folder in the dock, and their games are there.

That's a nice simple idea. Remember the OS X interface is very user friendly - my kids picked it up in minutes. There is an application, can't for the life of me think what it's called, but it's a floating dock. You put it where you want on the desktop, and add anything, folders, apps, to it. One click and its open.

What was that thing that popped up on OS 8 when you started the computer (I think 9 did it too, but I had disabled mine and unfortunetly am not at a Mac right now)?

It would pop up a box with the programs that you put into it, pre-Dock. I can't remember the name, but is there something like that for OS X? I'd love to get something like that for my Mom who just upgraded to X, and this would be perfect for your kids. I wish I could remember what it was called.
