Merging IDs for iCloud usage... status?

Does anyone have any recent news/rumors/reports on the status of being able to merge multiple iTunes IDs into a single iCloud signon? I haven't heard anything recently, but remember reading a quote a while ago from Tim Cook that they were "working on it".

Any info would be much appreciated.

That was the last I heard too. I hope they do something soon, and my issue isn't even a merge, I just want to be able to use my .Me now and not gmail.

It feels like for every time we hear they're "working on it" we hear they're actually not. I, for one, want to see this, but I'm not crossing my fingers.
