so everyone says notability can merge notes/pdf but no where says how. I split a unit for class to email to a friend who was absent and it's driving me absolutely mad now.

Is there a way to merge it all or am I SOL?

Try this, tap your edit button, then tap and hold note you want moved to different folder.

I am able to merge Notability notes on the Mac but not on iOS.

I achieve this using thumbnails (slide deck) features, as follows.

1. Open the source note (Note 2)
2. Click the "View thumbnails" icon or use menu View>Note Thumbnails to show all the slides.
3. Click on any of the slides (I click the first)
4. Right Click "Select All" (or cmd A)
5. Copy (cmd C)
6. Open destination note (Note 1)
7. Click the "View thumbnails" icon or use menu View>Note Thumbnails
8. Scroll to the bottom and select the last one (not sure it matters which I select)
9. Paste (cmd V)

Done. ✅

As usual, the new changes will sync up to your other copies, including iOS.

Hope this helps.

im a little late to the party but, you are able too... and youre SOL
the only way i know how to do this ON MY IPAD is to open the note you want to move(probably the shorter note...) and move one page at a time by double tapping a page and clicking cut/copy then opening up the note you want to paste it to and double tap the last slide and paste. it might take some time but.. the SOB will be on one note!

So having this same issue, I stubbed across this thread... playing around with this I was able to get this to work and boy does it work fast!
1. Arranged my 600 pdf documents I wanted to merge (each is about 20 pages) into a folder in Finder and sorted them by name in the order I wanted them.
2. Clicked on the first one only, and import into notability into its own note
3. scroll to the bottom of the note just created in step 2, then select file, import
4. selected the resining 599 pdfs from my window that was sorted and drag and drop the whole mess to the bottom of the last page of the first note (in step 2), then release the mouse button
5. In about 3 seconds literally, all of the notes are merged into one document.
Then they replicate through iCloud, as I have that turned on in notability. Boom... they are on my phone, iPad, etc.

I don’t mean to take over the thread, but I have been looking into note taking software for college and am stuck between onenote, notability, and pages. Other than this perplexing merging issue do you recommend notability? If so, why?

I use it for bible college classes and on an iPad, circle highlight and markup my notes. They then replicate to all of my other devices. It is pretty awesome software and very easy to use in a full mas/iOS environment

It depends on how your notes will be taken. I used Notability all through high school just fine but now all my college professors want everything submitted as docx file format so I dumped notability and got Office 365 since its easier to not continually import export into different file formats. It’s also nice that I can simply sync files through my iCloud Drive and not have to touch One Drive.

You’re best off just watching some videos of how people use Notability. I never really understood how to construct a good workflow in it until I watched some of these videos. Here’s a good one to start with:

Bottom line, Notability is designed to work with handwriting notes — a better way to retain information for many people. It allows you to do almost all the things you enjoy about handwriting notes, along with advances that are only possible on a digital device.

I'm wondering the same even though I won't be using it for college. What I don't like about Notability is the lack of a web interface.
