Merom Macbook: how soon??!! Need help

I've been waiting for the Core 2 line of notebooks all summer and now law school is less than a week away. I've held out hope on the rumors that the MBPs and MBs would both be updated simultaneously around Sept. 5th, but lately it seems like everyone thinks it won't be till at least the 16th for the Paris Expo. As much as I want to wait it out for the 64 bit systems, getting through one week of class without it is far different than two, three, or whoever knows how many more. My question to you all: amidst all the rumors, how likely do you think it is they will be released before the 16th? Also, judging form previous apple launches, how easy will it be to get them once they are released? I know its impossible to know for sure, but any info will help. Thanks!
