Message alerts when locked

Hi,

Since updating to ios15 I do not get messsage alert Banners or tones on lock screen. Still works as before on iPad and watch. I have checked notification settings and all allowed. If on Home Screen tones and banners work as configured. This is also happening to mum’s phone (iPhone 12 pro max on iOS 15). My phone is iPhone 13 Pro max on iOS 15.

I have noticed numerous reports on reddit and not yet contacted Apple support (I have Care+) as I dread the two hours on phone skirting round what they probably know is an issue then the inevitable “erase and restore” or “setup as new phone”. Eek!

Has anyone else seen this issue and is there a known workaround?

Same issue. I’ve done factory reset. I’ve restored from backup. Same issue.

Seems widespread. My sister just updated to ios15 and same issue.

How can something be tested so widely by so many yet suffer a fundamental issue? Something like this happens with every iOS and macOS update and usually takes at least .1 update of each to fix. It makes me wonder what level of testing goes on. Surely someone sent a message with a screen locked?

This doesn't seem to have improved, at least for me and family. Message alerts continue to be ignored on iPhone and iPad. Watch continues to alert when a message is received - the only way I know it has if iOS is in lock.

Is anyone else seeing this?

Same here. Watch alerts. iPad and iPhone do not when locked. Viber works fine. Gmail works. Just not Messages for me.

Alerts also work in all apart from messages. Also Safari tab sync from iOS to macOS remains intermittent after an encouraging start. Just the usual mess that Apple seem to introduce despite widespread beta testing and endless (I hope!) internal testing. macOS 12 offer another opportunity for epic failures that they will no doubt not pass up .... ;-)
