Hello

I could find any info but it's impossible for me to use the Message app on my Mac Pro 4.1 upgraded to 5.1 on latest Sierra.
Each time I try to login I get an error "An error has occurred during authentification".
It seems apple is blocking the serial of my machine from its server.
It might be obsolescence or due to the firmware upgrade.
I was wondering if anyone has find a work around this.

Thanks

I believe this is a common issue w/ upgraded Mac Pros, and the fix is to contact Apple and let them know you are having trouble logging on, give them your serial #, and they will "unlock" it for you. Correct me if I'm wrong, somebody.

It's not Apple that is blocking anything. Your BootROM probably is missing some of the hardwareIDs. You can ask Apple to whitelist it or you can dump the BootROM and correct it.

My iMessage isn’t working either, refuses to log in. I have a MP5,1 mid 2012, not an updated 4,1 so there may be something wrong with the ID’s. I’ve called Apple Help and they did their best to help but at some point they said they wouldn’t help me any further, reasons unstated.

So, I looked at Tsialex’s post and will try to find the ID’s he mentions. I do not think I’m up for changing my BootRom: even though I am fairly technical, this feels like too big a challenge for me…

I sent you a PM, do the BootROM dump, take a picture of the ESN label, save a full system report - I'll correct it when I have free time.
