My messages app is all a bright green. I cannot see any of the text in my messages. The only area that is not a bright green is the list of senders on the left. I can see photos within the message on some but thats it. I have restarted messages and restarted my MAC but no change. I would add to the above list but not sure its a bug or just my machine.

You might try this command, in Terminal, killall Messages. That command will kill the process and you can then open it again. One cool thing I just found was that you can use Siri to open apps. Once you kill the app, invoke Siri and simply say "Open Messages". I don't know how to quit apps, though. Siri doesn't respond to the words close or exit, and when I tried "Quit Photoshop", she asked me what she had done wrong :D
