Message / Email Alert Reminder?

Is there a way to make the phone beep or vibrate to remind me that I have a new text msg, voicemail, or email? Right now it will only alert me when I get the message and then never again until I actually unlock the phone and look at the home screen.

there isn't a reminder function unfortunately. i do miss that from my old phone since i would get a message at work but be too busy to answer, then when it slowed down i would get the reminder again and check it. but now i just forget about it until i look at my phone again.

I hope an App can be made for this. I really like my phone to tell me i have a message. I'd also like the option to turn it off.
My iPhone sits on my desk at work. Sometimes it gets enough of a signal that i'll hear it ring but most of the time it doesn't. So i have to check it often to see if someone called.
