They've stated a while ago that 2G is forever unlocked (rather, unlockable). You should be good. Just check through some of the old posts where they describe why if you're still unsure.

not even the DEv team at the moment they are just like us they get the release at the same time we do. Apple does npt send the Dev team a early copy so they can start hacking it. I will guess at least a couple weeks. preople get hard on the Dev team forgetting that they make no money for doing this. Just going to have to wait or if you can't put 3.1 on there but understand you might not be able to Unlock it latter in fact that is what the Dev team is saying.

I have a 2G phone and using it on the FIDO network here in Montréal. Since no 2G was ever sold in Canada, is it safe to upgrade and keep my unlock? I dont care about jailbreak since the app store.

If you upgrade you will lose your unlock....

What you have on your phone at the moment (I assume), is 3.01 that has been jailbroken and unlocked.....what you will be doing by updating to 3.1 is replacing that jailbroken/unlocked 3.01 software, with fresh, non-jailbroken/unlocked software....so you will lose your jailbrake/unlockness (I made a new word )

From the DevTeam blog, the way I read it, it looks like they plan Pawnage Tool to be the 1st release for 3.1 JB.

What you have on your phone at the moment (I assume), is 3.01 that has been jailbroken and unlocked.....what you will be doing by updating to 3.1 is replacing that jailbroken/unlocked 3.01 software, with fresh, non-jailbroken/unlocked software....so you will lose your jailbrake/unlockness (I made a new word )

It will still be unlocked. The 2G wont lose that. I never have. Just the jailbreak. However, there have been reports that after updating to 3.1 with a 2G that it wont activate but it is still unlocked.
