I've noticed this message showing up in Apps. What is this from? What happened?

"Please do NOT give your iPhone/iPod Touch unique device identifier to anyone. We at (blank) will NEVER ask for that information"

Kind of common sense carry over from many things computer related.
Anyone know why this has come up?

As a dev, there is no reason to need the UDID unless we want to give you the ability to install beta copies. I don't know which app(s) you are seeing that in, but I wouldn't think much of it.

Some apps like Beejive can block usage by UDID, see this thread.

That's because they programmed it to send them the UDID when the user puts a cracked version on their phone. I gather UDIDs to have the ability ban users from posting scores to my games. You have to program in the UDID blocking, you can't just send out a message to a UDID to have apps blocked.
