Up until day, when I receive a message, it popped up on all 3 of my devices, iPhone 7, iPad and MBA. Today, suddenly, the messages only pop up on the device I'm looking at. I suspect it has something to do with sharing, but don't know how to return to getting my messages on my other devices.

You don't get them at all in the messages app or just not the notification?

Messages are Not copied, it ist Not passive befasse auf the encryption. Apple solved that by sendend messages to every Registered device.
For example:
You have an iPhone and an iPad and both are registered in iMessage for your Phonnumber.
Somebody wants to send an iMessage using your Phonenumber, his device send two iMessages one to your iPad and one to your iPhone. This is because every device has its own encryptionkey.

So no messages get copied. And in messages are not there it Stars that way.
