Hi all;

I haven't seen much anymore in the forums about being able to set your own tone for a received message; am I the only one wishing that Apple would add this?

No, you're not the only one. My wife and I came over from Verizon and that's the only thing we miss from our old phones, the customization of alert sounds. I would love to see this show up as a "forgotten" addition to the update.

It's quite odd that, when it comes to customization, Apple seems to make things as difficult as possible. Even in terms of ringtones, it really is quite a bit of work to make, import, and set ringtones. I daresay Apple could device a more intuitive solution. Perhaps in time the customization will come - and all the features of OS 4.0 have likely not been announced, either, so it's possible that we might see those customization options - like custom SMS tones - sooner rather than later.

Me too, the current sounds drive me nuts. It should be a simple thing to add and at the very least, add some new sounds to the list. I was hoping one of the sites that got an early peek would check on this.

So do any devs who have the SDK know if this has been excluded or not? Could someone check for us? If it's an NDA issue, don't worry about it, but if not, I think we'd really like to know. :)
