Just bought the phone last night and set it up with my iPhone 7 backup. Everything went just fine except for messages and health data. No data was imported from either app.

I even tried the entire process over again today and got the exact same results. Does anyone have any recommendations for me here? It's quite irritating losing all of my health data I've tracked for years. Messages I could live without, but I'd like those restored too.

Back when I went from an iPhone 6 to 7 I had no problems. All data restored perfectly.

Are you restoring from iCloud or iTunes? Do you have the switches to enable iCloud for Health and Messages turned on in the iPhone 7?

All I know is that if you restored using itunes, health data is not backed up if the backup isn't encrypted.

The update was done from iCloud.

Health and messages were turned on in the iCloud settings screen.
[doublepost=1540410046][/doublepost]Here is another strange detail. When the restore was completed an hour ago I checked the messages app and the health app and saw nothing. Now I just went back into messages and at the bottom of the screen it says "Downloading Messages from iCloud". Yet nothing inside the app has changed. No messages restored.

They were having iCloud server issues last night and Apple claims they're all resolved now, but I have a feeling this is related to that.

I think you just have to wait. I was having that problem when I got my XS Max but everything downloaded over a few (maybe 4?) hours. Make sure you're on wifi and your iPhone is charging to ensure best results.
