Anyone else having issues with the Messages app? I find it constantly fails to send a message if I haven't used it for a little while. If I am sending a 2nd follow up message I have to wait a while to make sure the first one has been sent or it just confuses whoever I am talking to. It's driving me nuts!

Messages app always fails to send first message

Messages.app is very unreliable for me. Messages constantly fail to send and the same for pictures. I only use it to send myself stuff to my iPhone. I won't really use it to talk to people until they let us merge the phone number and the Apple ID which is probably coming in the fall with iOS 6.
I have exactly the same problem. (especially the part where the other side gets confused).
Is there a solution to this problem?
Not that I have found. It also seems to have a massive memory leak. I often find it is using 3 or 4gb. It's record so far, after I left my machine running overnight, was 57gb.
