I just got my new MBP 14" M1 PRO, and I've noticed that there seems to be a lag or unresponsive clicking issue when using the Messages.app. I find that when clicking on different areas within the app that sometimes it doesn't seem to register it. Even a physical click of the button sometime doesn't register. It'll take multiple tries before it does. I have tap to click with one finger enabled. At first I thought that perhaps there was some hardware or manufacturing defect issue with the trackpad. But with other apps, this doesn't seem to happen. Anyone else here experience the same or having similar issues?

I have this same exact issue. Spoke to multiple Apple reps and they have me run all these diagnostics, take a recording of my screen of the issue (pretty invasive for a company that boasts privacy all over) and even with all that, they just ignore my responses and close out the ticket. According to the rep, engineering just ignores all requests that have missing information in the report, so as long as Apple devs tolerate it and their sales numbers are good, the chances of this being fixed is slim to none. I feel so helpless and I've given up contacting Apple about issues.

This happens with the default trackpad option, not using tap to click. I'm using a 16" M1 Max and it also happened to the 16" M1 Pro that I returned. This issue was not present on the 2019 5K Intel-based iMac I was using prior.

I have problems with Messages becoming slow on my m1 air. I just restart it every once and a while and it works fine for a period of time.
