Hi all,

I use a Mac laptop and iPad but have an Android phone.

Is there a way to send/receive SMS sent with the Messages app (Mac or iPad) when I am on my Android phone?

Currently, I can't use the Messages app because if I am away from my laptop or iPad, I miss anything that gets sent.

Thanks!

I am not aware of anyway to do this. I don't think Apple have opened the system up.

you can use it

I use Google Talk on my android phone. It allows free messaging...like they all should be.

Messages, the Apple application, works perfectly with Google Talk. You'll miss no more messages. :)

FYI.

On 10.8 Message open Messages, Preferences-Accounts mini-tab and click on the + button. Wjen the add-account opens up, in the right "Account Type" toggle-bar choose 'Google Talk'.

Done very simplify!

Thats not what the OP was asking. He wants to interface with apple messages on his android, not log in to google talk on the laptop.

Apple's messages service is closed to 3rd party apps as far as I know (unlike Google talk, AIM, Yahoo, etc).
