anyone having the same issue? after yosemite install, i'm missing all my old messages on the messages app. forgive me for my ignorance, but aren't the imessages stored in the cloud?

They always pick up from when that device was first signed in. (not restored, etc.)

That is in the release notes saying to backup your iMessages prior to install if you want to keep them.

they shouldn't be missing considering they are sync'd with your other iOS devices... that being said shouldn't they re populate next time there is an update?

If you update or restore, they are there, if you start fresh they are not there. Only ones from the time after you first signed are there. Personally I think it's kind of refreshing.

Same issue for me. I lost some pics that I really needed to keep. Thanks to this thread, I now know why the old pics got deleted. It was due to the new OS install.

I have the backed up iMessage data from my Time Machine backup but have no way of restoring it that I know of without a complete computer restore.

Any help or suggestions would be awesome.
