Messages App peculiarity on lates Big Sur PB

I upgraded to the latest Big Sur Public Beta & this morning I noticed that if I send a response to a group (of 2), Messages is sending 2 identical messages to both parties & they also show up on my 2017 MBP 15. One idea is that 1 recipient is a iPhone while the other is an Android I think...but this is definately new since Saturday.

I did a cursory search of this forum with no hits.

Is anybody else seeing this on their machine(s)?

I'm not seeing any names attached to my long standing message threads, even though the people are in my contact book.

Well...I've still got names on my messages & I'm still sending out 2 messages. I started another thread with 3 people & the 1st text went out correctly but then reverted to sending 2 copies on all subsequent posts. Very strange!
