I've been having an issue with the Messages App. Everytime when the computer comes out of sleep mode the messages are displaying just the phone numbers. I have to open contacts and toggle the email account the names are associated with, then the messages app start to display the names again.

has anyone else seen this?

thanks

I have the same problems in Catalina. I don't want to restart the computer. How exactly are you resolving this problem? I don't quite understand what you mean:

You opened Contacts app or something in Messages app? How do you toggle e-mail account? I can't find it.

why don't you want to restart? restarting 'flushes' the ram, a great way to sometimes deal with buggy behaviors, sluggishness, etc...

Because it is quite unnecessary to restart the computer just to fix Messages app notifications to correctly display contacts' name. Restarting computer is also disruptive when working.

I have to open contacts and toggle the account my contacts are associated with.

Can you please be more crystal clear? Or show screenshots? Where are you opening contacts? Contacts app that is a separate app from Messages or contact information when you click on their name to open a popup menu or the details button in Messages app?

Where is this toggle button?

you can restart for the reasons i listed, and also see if it helps with messages. plus, flushing the ram periodically is a good thing. and restarting shouldn't take so long that it proves 'disruptive when working'...!

wonder what the issue is, since it's working fine for some (including myself)... anyway, hope it's sorted out next update 👍

who knows - a clean install usually fixes it - I'm not gonna clean install until we got a GM.

👍 Restarting the Mac is a PITA

Yes not clear about what toggle means LOL, I would be careful about turning a contact off and back on - you can loose the history of the text messages like this - fine if you don't care about the history - but I keep these for reference since many of my text messages are work related and have lost years of history for a contact when changing phone numbers in the contacts

I had to upgrade my storage because imessage storage was more than the 5g of free space - this can be an issue

Sometimes it helps to close iMessages and reopen - this helps ( for me) to restore missing messages and images, links etc.
