Messages Beta - Cannot start conversation with offline (invisible) Yahoo contact

As stated in the title, am I the only one experiencing this?

Just out of curiosity, how could one start a conversation with an offline and invisible contact anyway? Was/is that possible with other chat applications under the same circumstances?

Hi,

The way Yahoo chat works is if one sends the message to a contact that appeared to be offline

- if that contact is really not online at the time the message is sent, the message is still allowed to get through and will be displayed when that contact gets online

- if that contact is invisible, the message is displayed right away and that contact can choose to reply (start the conversation) or remain silent (pretend not to be online).

It was working with iChat but not Messages Beta. While we are talking about this, is that possible to roll back to iChat?

FWIW pretty much every instant messaging service in the past few years either has or has added this feature.

Didn't know that, as the last time I used such chat software is "some years" ago.
