Messages doesn't send partial screen shot or images

I send a lot of partial screenshots (shift command 4) to people over Messages. If I send text with it, I'll get a question or someone will say they didn't get an image if there was supposed to be one.

This has happened a number of times, but I can't reliably reproduce it. Sometimes it will work.

iMessage, single & multiple recipient. I don't really see a pattern.

Is anyone else running into this?

It's not just screenshots, but also other images sent from my MBP to people on iMessage.

Same here, can't send any images in Message after the Sonoma update. It's maddening as my job depends on it. Sometimes it will work and sometimes it won't. I'm on a Mac Mini

That's the problem. You can't count on it not working.

I deleted the Messages thread (to myself) on both my iPhone (iOS 17) and MBP (Sonoma), hoping that would work. Same story...

I'm having a sort of adjacent issue, where shift+control+command+4 (screenshot copy to clipboard) doesn't even enter screenshot mode.

Painful! That's such a useful feature!
