Soo,

Now I can ditch Skype because the persons I do skype with, also have a mac.

There is just one thing holding me back.

Everytime a friend says something on the Messages app on my Mac,
Also my phone buzzes/beeps. and most of the time, it's after I already replied to that message. (we talk fast, you see...)

Do I really have to wait for iOS6 with the DND function or is there a short term solution for the annoying double alert.

(Have to say, the synced 'read, so it dissapears from your lockscreen' is nice though)

Any thoughts?

Thanks, Jhingha

Put your phone on silent

One "feature" that I think I've noticed is that if you don't move away from the Messages window (that is, it doesn't lose 'focus' in the UI definition of the term) the iPhone won't buzz or otherwise notify me of a message.

This is really good in case I am chatting at your computer and then move away from.

The problem is that quite often I'm multitasking and the Messages window goes to the back which causes the phone to buzz.

I'm not 100% certain of this but I think the above is correct.

use your apple id for the mac and your # number for the iPhone ;)

i never understood why anyone would want those messages to be pushed to all devices if u are currently on just one anyway. my iPhone would never shut up if i wouldnt keep it separately from my mac ^^

I can't get any messages to show up on my laptop for some reason. It's only showing up on my phone. I can send a message easily from my laptop, but the replies never come back there. Same thing happens on my iPad. Any ideas?

If I would be doing that, the 'idea' behind

Start a conversation on one device, and continue on another device,
would be lost. Because that is really what I do.

Just, having my iPhone always at my side. this is just one of those things I need to find a solution for else it will keep annoying me untill fall. (when I just turn on DND, which im still a bit skeptical on because than also calls and whatsapp messages I won't be notified about. )

I've just tested, and i'm 100% this doesn't work :(

Perhaps -- but I just did and it worked...

Because I read it so fast, it doesnt show up in my lock screen. But the lock screen still turns on and the iPhone buzzes.

If you are experiencing something else, than thats interesting.

When Messages is running, I get the notification to my phone like a minute or two after I've gotten the notification on the computer. But if I've read the message, there is nothing on the phone. Just as the notification on the phone disappears when I've read the message on the computer.

A funny thing happened yesterday though, I read a message on the computer as the phone got the notification, and the sound stopped abruptly, as if I'd pressed a button on the phone :)
