I can't believe that again in Messages in OSX you just cannot simply attach photo in a normal way, i.e. click on "attach photo" (there is no such command), browse and select ... absolutely elementary thing. You can only drag it there from the finder ... Really super weird ...

You can also copy and paste from Photos, so no need to export to the Finder, or use the Photos share sheet.

Well, I don't see any reason why there could not be photo icon for attaching the photo as it is on iphone. They forgot about it ?

There is. Just click the grey icon in front of the text box. But it is for photos from the photo app, not photos you have elsewhere on your machine.

Ok. But I don't see the problem. It is very easy to drag&drop it from, where you have it. And is whole lot easier to navigate a full finder windows, than an open dialog. You don't need to align the apps next to each other either, because you can still do app switch with cmd+tab while dragging. Also copy/paste is quite easy and if I want to send a screenshot I do it to clipboard and paste it.

For dragging you have to rearrange the windows, makes them smaller, find the original messages window again etc. You have messages window open, you click on finder window or icon and the messages window disappears etc. Quite user unfriendly.

No, that is what I am trying to tell you. You don't need to rearrange windows. You can shift between apps with the keyboard while dragging.

Mostly you already have the files at hand, instead of having to navigate to the same location in a new dialog.

The button on the phone relies on your using the iOS Photos app, so having that same button on the Mac would rely on your using the OS X Photos app. I think there should be an send-file option for the grey button to the left of the field. Bear in mind that there is a keyboard command for the send-file browser.
