I finally turned this on last night. How do I know if it is working or what is going on? I have two iPhones I carry daily. Should messages now be the same? I would love to wipe both phones and start them fresh and then redownlpad my messages but don’t wan to until I know the messages are there.

Previously all devices would get the messages but they weren't sync'd to each other. Now they sync via iCloud. So if you delete a message on one phone it should (eventually) be deleted from the other device. So you can test it that way.

This excludes the Apple Watch which has hardware limitations that would limit the entire system.

I have found that only messages received after turning it on are synced.

Interesting. I had it on since 11.4 beta 1, and only a few threads synced. I turned it off finally after it lost a giant chunk of my messages.
