Messages in OS X Lion?

I have a mid 2007 MacBook Pro (still working!) and tried to upgrade to Mountain Lion last week, but my mac isn't supported

Are there any guides that anyone can recommend for getting some of the Mountain Lion features on my current MBP (specifically Messages)?

Thanks for the guide. Looks a bit daunting just to get it upgraded, so I'll probably pass since it's my main work system. Appreciate the help anyways!
