Ever since I upgraded to Serria, whenever I get a message from someone in my contacts, Serria won't list who that message is from. Instead it will shows the phone number. For it to show the person the number has to be entered into contacts with the country code. It never happen in Yosemite or El Captain.

E.g.
Message from a contact with number 041234567 will not show contact number

Message from same contact with number as +6141234567 will show contact name

Is this a new feature that was introduced in Serria because I find it annoying have to figure out who has messaged me and then update their contact card to include the country code.

Edit: I found out when I disable contact syncing and re enabled it, the messages app show people as just their number even tho they have been saved with the country code

I have not had this problem. However, knowing that this is a thing that can happen, well... now I am nervous. I need to update some contact numbers to the +1########## format so that when I receive a call in my car the car's display will show the contact name rather than just showing the number.

I haven't had the problem in Sierra before, but I made a clean install the other day, and now I have the same problem :/ What to do?
