Messages Issue

I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion and tried using Messages, it kept telling me the log in failed, I was so annoyed considering I changed my password like 6 times. Eventually I rage quit and deleted the application...then realized there is no way for me to get it back because Apple is a bunch of a**-holes when it comes to re-downloading native applications. Anyone know if it is safe for me to just re-upgrade to Mountain Lion or preferably have another way for me to get Messages back? Once I have done that I bet it will work.

Boot from the recovery partition and reinstall Mountain Lion.

No, it won't. However, if you use Time Machine then a faster method would be to restore the application from there.

The recovery partition is there right? I do not have to create it?
