iPhone Messages - long press issue

I’m completely perplexed on this. This has got to be a bug/iOS glitch.

Messages app ... see my attachment ... “Hannah” pops up in here every time I long press to compose a message. This person was deleted from my Contacts months ago. What’s even more strange, is when I click on this person, it doesn’t even compose a message to that person - it just takes me into Messages. Same thing happening when I select Amanda - instead of composing a text, it takes me into Messages

I’ve even gone so far as to do a factory data reset - didn’t make any difference. I have not called Apple Support .. yet.

Is this an iCloud issue? iOS issue? Is this happening to anyone else?

Is Hannah someone you sent a ton of messages to? The list contains “frequent” recipients of your messages, and may not take into account if the person is still in your contacts.

Yes, I did send a lot of messages to this person ... and I do understand that it's meant to be a "recents" feature ... but it's also not working like it's supposed to. Amanda, who also pops up on the long press, IS in my contacts, and when I tap her name it should compose a message - but it doesn't - it's just taking me into Messages. That, to ME, is very buggy/glitchy behavior. So, something is wrong ... it's not composing a message when I tap either name, whether they're in my Contacts or not.

UPDATE: I did an "Erase All Content and Settings", set up as new, and that resolved the issue 👍
