I’ve lost many messages on my iPhone due to I believe iOS 18 and its beta that I did. However since my MacBook doesn’t sync with messages in the iCloud most messages are present.

If I enable messages on my MacBook is there a change that it will sync with what’s currently in the iCloud and delete what’s on my MacBook and bring it in line with what’s on my iPhone?

How about if turn off iCloud messages on my iPhone and then do the disable and delete and wait for over thirty days for it get purged then enable iCloud messages on my MacBook?thanks.

It’s not clear what you are trying to accomplish. Do you want current Messages in iCloud synced on all devices?

I would like the messages on my MacBook ( 13GB ) which don’t sync to be synced with the messages on my iPhone (800mb) . My concern is iPhone messages overwrites MacBook messages if I enable messages in the cloud for the MacBook.

I have already disabled messages in the iCloud for my iPhone but I think I need to delete them which occurs after 30 days according to the screen shot on my iPhone. Then after they get purged from the iCloud I enable sync on my MacBook then sync on my iPhone.

I feel since iOS 18 and the latest updates to macOS, iMessages doesn't sync as well as it used to.
There is a clear difference between the iMessages on my iPhone, versus those on my MBP...

PS: All devices are set to sync via iCloud.
