Messages problem since iOS 11

Starting a new message, adding the recipient now brings up addressing options for every group message that person has EVER been part of from my phone. Example I type Ringo S and if I've ever texted Ringo & Paul & George & John together or in some subset those will all come up before just Ringo's name by itself is listed. Major pain in the ass. Worse yet, even combinations including people I haven't texted in over a year - looking at you Yoko - are listed, often before the one person I really want to text. Never happened before iOS 11.

Thanks but there's no solution there - just others with the same problem. We can't be the only ones. Hello, APPLE??

you can tap on the "i" to remove groups from the list.

Thanks but if you have hundreds of combinations/group it is incredibly tedious. Gotta be a workaround.
